In our middle school studio, we re-imagine traditional education with personalized blended learning, project-based explorations, and emphasis on developing good character. We validate the strengths, identities, and passions of each scholar while mentoring them to use those strengths as catalysts for growth. Combining academic mastery with personal development, scholars step into their fullest potential and take ownership of their educational experience. We help middle school scholars build their confidence and develop skill sets to become the change-makers and trailblazers of the future.
Middle school is a transformative time in scholars’ education where they take ownership of their learning and identify their unique passions, talents, and interests. Our flexible, mastery-based, and interest driven learning experience supports scholars as they move at an advanced pace and explore a diverse array of concepts.
With a student-led approach, scholars become independent thinkers and learn important 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration. Every day in our Middle School Studio is an opportunity to develop friendships in a kind peer community and make learning fun! Mission’s method leaves scholars feeling fulfilled, ahead of the curve, and empowered to continue learning and growing.
Our middle school scholars strengthen their mathematical literacy through developing number sense and applying real-world context to skills. Our students navigate through topics in algebra, geometry and statistics while developing problem-solving strategies, evaluation skills, critical thinking, logic, and reasoning. By applying these domains to relevant real world scenarios, students unpack “why” and “how” different mathematical solutions work.
With a goal of developing passionate, creative, and skilled individuals, we approach language in a way that reflects society. Students explore a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts while diving deep into themes and making connections to past and current events. Advanced reading and writing skills are embedded into every aspect of our curriculum, especially within our project based learning.
Whether drafting an entrepreneurial business pitch, reporting on current events for the school paper, or conducting safe online research reports, our scholars develop dynamic literacy and communication skills with real-world applications.
Investigating the potential for colonizing Mars, examining local Native American artifacts, creating glow-in-the dark art, and studying the world of sharks are just a few examples of the project-based explorations our scholars have conducted. In our constantly advancing modern society, we prioritize relevant, real-world experiences such as these to teach scientific thinking, digital literacy and 21st-century skills.
Our robust STEAM curriculum covers topics such as physics, biology, Earth science, and engineering. Our engaging and fun approach to STEAM education creates lifelong learners with passions for exploration, research, and real-world change.
Mission’s method to civilizations is to tell the stories of the world- reflecting on the past while creating a better future. Students analyze historical themes as well as modern affairs to make connections across time to their personal lives.
Studying citizenship and current events, our scholars learn about diverse cultures and societies while reflecting on how to make an impact in their community. You can find our scholars organizing canned food drives, selling Luminarias at Christmas to donate proceeds to an orphanage, and getting involved with local animal shelters.
Through service projects and local apprenticeships, our middle school scholars learn to be empathetic, giving, and active members of their community.
