We operate on a 4-quarter school calendar, with most major holiday breaks aligning with public schools and NMSU. Our unique calendar provides an ideal pacing for breaks without creating learning loss over an extended summer break. Our school opens at 8 am; the school day begins promptly at 8:30 am, with dismissal at 3 pm for lower elementary and 3:15 pm for other grades.

Mission Academy is not a Christian or denominational school.  Our school provides children space to develop their spiritual foundation and moral footing in conjunction with their family’s beliefs.  We have a strong focus on morality, ethics, freedom of thought, and kindness to others.  We believe parents are the primary instructors on faith and morals, not the school system.

Students may bring their own lunch or purchase a meal plan. Parents are welcome to send their child a healthy, peanut-free, lunch. We believe that it’s important to help young people develop healthy lifestyle habits, which is why we are a junk-food-free campus.

We utilize mastery-based grading to track students’ progress in core subjects and personal development.  Our goal is for students to master core subjects before moving to the next level. We provide rubric-style grading for all subjects and give parents frequent progress reports. In addition, our students maintain portfolios of their work and host public exhibits providing real-world experiences that put their knowledge to the test.

We don’t have homework.  We believe after-school time should be spent with family, engaged in extracurricular activities, or recharging.
